Prayer, a gift from God.

If prayer is God’s great gift, it is one inseparable from the giver; who, after all, is His own great gift, since revelation is His Self-donation.

About the title, “Like A Bell.” In Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s amazing novel Crime and Punishment, Sonia reads the story of Lazarus to Raskolnikov. As she came nearer and nearer to the miracle of the resurrection “her voice rang out like a bell; triumph and joy gave it power.” The power of Jesus and the blessing of his resurrection is this world’s hope. Jesus’ own resurrection is our triumph and joy. We are raised together with him. Because Jesus came and now lives again we can live and talk theology. Our lives and voices can be, should be, and hopefully will grow to be like the hope-filled sound of a bell. May what is written on this blog help bring the joy of Father, Son, and Spirit to the discussion of theology.
